Choice-Select Spread Rebounds
Back in March CattleFax discussed the record high Choice grading percentage, which at that time was adding about 20,000 more Choice grade cattle to the market per week. Weights were also significantly higher than in 2008 and as a result Choice beef production was up compared to 2008. These factors led to a Choice-Select spread averaging less than $1/cwt in the month of March.
